Playboy Magazine Feature

Nope, i didn't go nude on the Playboy Philippines September 2012 Issue hahah. But my illustration is on the Fiction Art page.

And because it's their music issue, they asked contributors about the kind of music they listen to.

Playboy Philippines' September 2012 Issue is now available in selected magazine stands nationwide.
You got Mocha and some hot chicks on the cover of what they called "our boldest issue yet."

Munny Art

Uma and Eagle sent me this Munny box (i actually thought it'll be a small one like those cuties i see in Secret Fresh; really surprised that it's larger). I'm excited to start painting. I just have to conceptualize the art.  I'm really thankful and grateful that they want my art to become a part of their growing collection, that they like to keep my work with them for the rest of their lives and show it off to their grandchildren hahah, so i seriously want to do my best. I'm scared to mess up, so i think i'll do some studies first. :)

By the way, i guess i gave Mori a good scare when he saw my ipod's cordless speaker lurking around the room. He's been hissing angrily while the speaker was bass-beating Those Dancing Days as if pleading not guilty. Hahah. That menacing grin.

Metrobank Art and Design Excellence 2011

Few months ago, I was shortlisted as one of the semi-finalists for the Metrobank Art and Design Excellence Competition. I already thought my work is eliminated from the final judging (the frame was damaged during the submission :( and the glass at the lower portion's broken so it doesn't look so presentable for an exhibit especially something prestigious like this hahah) until I received a letter of invitation a couple of days before the event. I am still lucky my entry is included in the jurors' top selected works for the exhibition.

slippers

Such a busy month for everyone. Count me in, too. When i'm not working in the office, i am at my drawing table or a table somewhere -- working. I made some slipper patterns recently and it's fun.

These Art Nouveau patterns are done line by line and shape by shape using Adobe PS CS4. It's quite harder and costed me some hours because the details are very scrutinizing.

While these patterns are Manila/Philippine-inspired theme. Left to right, top to bottom: Kalesa in Intramuros, illustrated Manila stamps, Pintados tattoo art, Ati-Atihan Festival illustration, and the popular Pinoy "Dirty Ice Cream" (nope, it's not dirty, we just call it that way because it is sold at the streets especially during summer; i'm not particularly sure about the origin of its name but i'll ask a friend of mine good in history of things Manila). These are done using Adobe PS, too.

The slippers are distributed in China so i don't have the prototype or a pair of the actual. It's hard to choose which design i like the most but i go for the Ati-Atihan Hala Bira! , Dirty Ice Cream, Kalesa, the green and purple art nouveau patterns -- oh shoot, i like them all.  :P

Never mind if the title of my artwork has a grammar/typo error,
i'm too happy to make a fuss about it anyway.
I really wish i can make it to the final list.

Feature: Uma's Shadowness

Alone by Uma Relevante
I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do. *Robert A. Heinlein

Baywalk by Uma Relevante
Uncertainty and mystery are energies of life. Don't let them scare you unduly,
for they keep boredom at bay and spark creativity.

And her latest action figures shoot

Uma Relevante 1
Uma is one of my favorite photographers.
I saw her first shots, the early days of gluing her eyes on Uno's lens,
the struggles, the clicks to perfection,
and  i can thoroughly expressed how proud i am of her accomplishments. :)
Galing galing mo Uma!

I got a couple of shots from the photoshoot.

I seriously lose the count of frames, i think we neared a hundred. There are other poses but i cannot post it yet due to copyright and stuff. Note to self - on the next shoot, i must learn how to fix my hair and i must drink coffee first to avoid looking so sleepy, hahah. And i'm studying aperture and other camera tricks now. I can also use this in my creative portfolio.
